It’s time for our annual theme, a tradition we started eight years ago when we launched Completion Global. The basic premise of our ministry has been to encourage innovation for the Great Commission, to help the worldwide Church connect with each other to get the job done as Jesus prophesied in Matthew 24:14: “this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
We are thrilled whenever we see the fruit of our labors in other people. A great example is Audrey Fay, whom we have known for 20 years. Audrey and Jeff started the first TUMI site in our seven California prison pilot that then grew across the country to over 70 prisons.
Since then, hundreds of people have graduated from the Capstone program and have been been released from prison. We have had the vision to start an Alumni Association of these graduates, so they can find each other for fellowship and encouragement. When we prayed about who might lead this new association, Audrey came to both of us as the best person in America to do the job. So we were overjoyed when she said yes and just yesterday we had our first meeting to design the Alumni Association of The Empowerment Network (see https://www.theempowerment.network/alumni-association).
Audrey is a TUMI graduate, works with her husband Jeff to pastor a church, and is founder of Bridging Second Chances, a nonprofit organization that helps justice-involved individuals reintegrate into society. You can find out more about her ministry at https://www.bridging2ndchances.org/
Watching God raise up people like Audrey has led us to our annual theme: “Transferring Ownership.” Not only are we seeking to pass the baton of leadership to the indigenous church among the incarcerated, but we are also praying about people to take leadership in the other two communities of The Empowerment Network: the Church Alliance https://www.theempowerment.network/church-alliance and the Facilitators Cohort https://www.theempowerment.network/facilitators-cohort.
Then we can be free to pursue other innovations for the Great Commission, as we’ve been called to do. Please pray for us as we jump into “Transferring Ownership” in the months ahead.
